
Gourav Banerjee, PhD
Postdoc Research Associate
Gourav Banerjee is a Postdoc Research Associate in Dr. Nahman-Averbuch’s lab (joined Jan’ 22). Gourav attained his PhD and MSc degrees in Pain Management & Rehabilitation from Leeds Beckett University, UK (2019) and University of Leicester, UK (2011), respectively. Gourav gained clinical and research exposure in Pain Management by participating in trainings at the University Hospitals of Leicester NHS Trust and scientific events organised by professional bodies including the British Pain Society and the European Pain Federation. Prior to that, Gourav graduated in Physical Therapy from NSCB Medical College, Jabalpur, India (2009). Before joining Dr. Nahman-Averbuch’s lab, Gourav worked as a medical affairs manager at a multinational pharmaceutical company (2019-21) where he led a phase III multicentre RCT, amongst managing other things. During 2013-14, Gourav held academic-physical therapist role at a teaching hospital in India where he delivered learning sessions on pain and musculoskeletal therapy as well as treated select patients with chronic pain in a multidisciplinary OPD.
Gourav is interested in understanding chronic musculoskeletal pain mechanisms and identification of factors that predict treatment response. Gourav is thrilled to work with Dr. Nahman-Averbuch and other members of the WashU Pain Center!
